INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Author Guidelines

Please read these guidelines carefully before submitting your manuscript to JTMIDR.

Note: All submissions are subject to a double-blind peer review. Authors are required to remove all personal identifiers from the manuscript file before submission. Please refer to the APC page for publication fees.

 

Focus and Scope

The Journal of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases Research (JTMIDR) publishes high-quality research across all fields of tropical medicine, infectious diseases, and biomedical sciences, including:

  • Tropical Medicine and Parasitology
  • Infectious Diseases and Epidemiology
  • Clinical Microbiology and Immunology
  • Public Health and Community Medicine
  • Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases
  • Biomedical Sciences and Translational Research
  • Drug Resistance and Therapeutics
  • Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases
 

Types of Manuscripts

Original Research

3,000-4,500 words, structured abstract (250 words max), 5-7 keywords.

Review Articles

4,000-5,000 words, unstructured abstract, comprehensive literature review.

Case Reports

Up to 1,500 words, unstructured abstract, clinical significance.

Short Communications

Up to 1,200 words, preliminary or urgent findings.

Letters to the Editor

Up to 500 words, commentary on published articles.

Photo Quiz / Clinical Image

Up to 800 words, high-quality image with brief description.

 

Formatting Requirements

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx)
  • Language: British English
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12pt
  • Line spacing: Single (1.0) throughout
  • Margins: 2.54 cm (1 inch) all sides
  • Page numbers: Centered at bottom
  • Referencing style: Vancouver (numbered citations)
  • Blinding: Remove all author names and affiliations
  • Word count: As specified per article type
  • Tables/Figures: Max 5, with clear legends
 

Manuscript Structure

Manuscripts should be organized as follows:

  1. Title Page (separate file): Title, author names, affiliations, ORCID IDs, corresponding author contact, conflict of interest statement, funding sources.
  2. Blinded Manuscript: Title, abstract, keywords, main text, references, tables, figure legends. (No author identifiers)
  3. Abstract: Unstructured – max 250 words for original research.
  4. Keywords: 5-7 relevant terms (alphabetical order).
  5. Introduction: Background and study rationale.
  6. Methods: Study design, setting, participants, ethical approval, data analysis.
  7. Results: Findings with appropriate tables and figures.
  8. Discussion: Interpretation, comparison with literature, limitations.
  9. Conclusion: Summary and implications.
  10. References: Vancouver style (numbered sequentially).
  11. Tables and Figures: Embedded or uploaded separately with clear legends.
 

Ethical Considerations

  • All research involving human participants must have ethical approval from an institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee.
  • Informed consent must be obtained from all participants.
  • Animal studies must comply with institutional guidelines for animal care.
  • Patients' identities must not be disclosed in text or images.
  • Authors must declare any conflicts of interest.
  • All authors must have contributed significantly to the work.
  • JTMIDR follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
 

Submission Process

  1. Create an author account on the submission portal (or log in if you already have one).
  2. Click "New Submission" and follow the step-by-step workflow.
  3. Upload your Title Page and Blinded Manuscript as separate files.
  4. Enter all metadata (title, abstract, keywords, author information).
  5. Upload any supplementary files (figures, tables, appendices).
  6. Confirm that all authors have reviewed and approved the submission.
  7. Submit for review.

Note: JTMIDR uses a double-blind peer review process. The review process typically takes 3-4 weeks. Accepted manuscripts are published within 3 months of final acceptance.

 

Submission Checklist

Before submitting, please confirm:

Manuscript follows JTMIDR scope
Manuscript prepared in correct article type
Formatting requirements are met
Title page and blinded manuscript are separate
All authors have ORCID IDs (encouraged)
Ethical approval obtained and acknowledged
References are in Vancouver style
No language errors (proofread)
APCs understood and acknowledged
Cover letter included (optional but recommended)
